Dan, Thank you for pointing out this important point on the cam timing difference for the F & G ram motors. This is exactly the information I was seeking. I need to remember to check our website for valuable information such as this. So, if one were rebuilding an F or G motor, and a stock F/G cam sprocket was not desired or available, a standard cam sprocket could be used with a 2 degree offset mount available from Summit or other supplier, along with a double roller chain as well, and still have stock performance from easily available parts, with higher reliability I might add. The gear has the cam locating pin hole retarded 2 degrees that makes the crank gear timing at the damper 4 degrees retarded but does not effect the specific timing of the engine according to the factory ignition timing sequence at the damper. This "retarding" affects the mid to high range torque output of the engine. The combination of the cam retard and the ram action produces optimum horsepower and torque. Engines rebuilt with the "standard" cam gear produce 10-15% less power and torque. Dan Reitz Northridge, Ca 300F **************Looking for simple solutions to your real-life financial challenges?
