Your dad has it right as the weather is close to perfect in Benson right now. I would want to see some north east 'color change' before I left there however. There are numerous web sites covering trans fluids for old iron. I like the ATRA one myself but there are many opinions. I default to the fact that Type 'F' is not an original Chrysler spec fluid, but, then again, the clutch and band parts and seals we buy today are not original composition so . . . . And, so far, Dexron III/Mercon spec fluid is still available from name brand sources. We do pump transmissions down through the cooler lines, in neutral. This can cause damage if carried too far. We have never done any damage however.
