[Chrysler300] grabbing brakes & 300C armrests

1) Brakes grabbing dangerously. Doug Warrener has given real sound advice re finding the problem, but if the brake on one side is grabbing so severely, to me it sounds like fluid getting on the brake drum surface. Grease, or as I have told on this site earlier, the original 300C brake cups are narrower than modern day same diameter ones one is usually given/supplied - being wider, the new style non Chrysler cups sit over the tiny fluid hole seen in the side of the wheel cylinder, such that when strong pressure applied, it pushes (wider) edge of rubber cup into hole and cuts/nicks the edge of your new cup amnd ruins it, so you then get very small amount of fluid leak out when standing for more than a day or two. Very hard to spot this so small leak/weep.

If the cups used are wider than Chrysler fitted originally, try to get correct ones, or otherwise you can/must shorten the steel pushrod bit that connects to shoes, so cup sits further out in cylinder, past the small hole.

2) Armrests - wood or plastic? Certainly if making new armrests, wood is easier, but personally needing two sets, I would (not spelt wood) rather have plastic, and remember the original 300C etc ones were the old style plastic that smells like vomit as it ages on hot days - if the new one made out of more usual nowadays bnetter plastic, there should be no warpage/failure problems??

Subject: [Chrysler300] sure could use some help

Hello to all,

This is my second time coming to the well so to speak for help with a problem. I have to say thanks again to all who responded to my last request a couple of months past. Your expertise and guidance saved me a lot of pain and many of the questions and answers posted on the club site have also helped solve some problems for me.

I have a 62 sport convert and have one major problem still to correct before truly having it road worthy. The brakes are completely redone but no-one can seem to get them adjusted. The car pulls very hard to the right and it's a fight to hold on to the steering wheel to the point of being dangerous if you hit the brakes hard. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks to all and keep the info coming, it's a great club.
