Hi Val, I'll field this since I may be one of the few of us to have seen a 400hp G. Also, I have spent some quality time lately with a 400hp 300F, which I believe is a similar setup. Here are some of the 400hp clues off the top of my head and to the best of my knowledge: 1. Short Rams. Yes, but be aware the "short" refers to the internal division inside the manifold, not the overall size. These look like 300J/ram 300K manifolds - "flat" on top compare to "long" 300F/G manifolds with a groove running down the center. 2. Manual transmission. 3-speed in the case of the 300G. 3. Cast iron headers. Look like 300J/ram 300K units, but carb heat is supplied by hot water rather than exhaust heat. 4. Manual chokes. 5. Carburetor #'s 3084S 6. Oversize alternator pulley.
