Hello friends, After a Memorial Day Weekend 3 hour drive in stop and go heavy on the brakes traffic in the K (non-ram), as I drove up the driveway I heard the hissing sound of escaping vacuum air when I stepped on the brake pedal and continuing to hiss for a minute after I turned the key off. I checked the vacuum hose that runs from the intake manifold to the power brake booster looking for a leak - no leak. Now I suspect a leak in the rubber diaphram inside the booster, which hasn't been touched in 20 years. I havn't lost any noticeable braking power. I drove the K all the way back to Maryland with the brakes hissing every time I stepped on the pedal. Do you think its the diaphram? Should I send the booster to a rebuilder or maybe go with a Cardone unit? My 1964 factory parts catalog lists the 300K unit part # as specific to the 300K, but I think that really only applies to ram k's with the fender mounted boosters. I think the single carb 413HP booster is the same as in a 64 New Yorker. Is that right? lastly, my current booster is painted flat black. Should it really be zinc dichromate annodized? Thanks, Rick Ehrmann [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ To send a message to this group, send an email to: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to: Chrysler300-unsubscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx For list server instructions, go to http://www.chrysler300club.com/yahoolist/inst.htm For archives go to http://www.forwardlook.net/300-archive/Yahoo!
