Good point. However, my binder straps are rated at 3,333 lbs when new and undamaged. Two on each end should limit, if not prevent, horizontal motion. Not trying to lift the car. I think some of the values of chain binders is that they are less susceptible to fraying, cutting, stretching and weathering. Synthetic slings are widely used in industry for hoisting. My outfit (and OSHA, I think) required periodic inspection of slings and destruction and disposal of damaged units.
