Joe: I can't tell whether you are asking about the blower for the a/c or the blowers for the heater and defroster. I'm attaching a picture of our non a/c '55 300 which has the heater and defroster fans as well as the temperature control in the usual place for all '55-'56 Chryslers & Imperials-to the left of the steering wheel on the underside of the dash. If you're asking about the a/c blower switch, I have a paper print of a '55 C300 with its a/c switch mounted in the curved area of the LH beige section of the dash-just above the parking brake warning light. I can scan this and send it to you if you wish. Gil has determined that the build ticket does not reflect the installation of a/c on this car at the factory. The car was shipped to Kansas, so a/c may have been added at the dealer. This area would be a little difficult to access in the 1956 models with the push-button transmission selector module mounted in that area, so moving the switch to the old "Dagger-On-The-Dash) location in 1956 makes sense. Temperature control is built into that same switch, either of two-levels (cold or cool)-controlling a solenoid bypass valve on the Freon. The service manual indicates there were two different types of temperature control switches. The fresh air scoops on the rear fenders were opened and closed manually with knobs in the trunk. The factory a/c appears to be a plumber's and electrician's nightmare with special fast idle provisions. The blowers pull 20 amps-almost half of the generator's capacity. A different generator came on a/c cars, but the service manual specs show it to have the same 45 Amp capacity as other Windsors and New Yorkers. The Imperial had a 50 Amp generator. Adding factory-spec. a/c to a built car would have been an interesting project.
