OK, maybe this is a backup light switch instead.

It's NOS and the box carries part #1605-430 but has been scratched out and
#1704-283 penciled in. Switch has single male bullet terminal which leads me to
think 55-56 cars.
I think 57 and up have threaded terminal.

Any Ideas??

  The 56 is trans mounted....

  Never had a 55 but I'd guess same as 56.
