The backup switch has two terminals and completes the hot side of that circuit when the selector is in reverse and the ignition switch is on. The neutral safety switch is a single terminal device and completes the ground side of the starter relay circuit when the selector switch is in neutral. 1704283 is the neutral safety switch package for all '55-'57 MoPars plus '58 Ply, Dodge, DeSoto. 1605430 does not appear in my '55-'58 parts book. Backup light switches vary considerably, but are the same for all '55-'56 MoPars with PowerFlite. 1603328. See photo It's NOS and the box carries part #1605-430 but has been scratched out and #1704-283 penciled in. Switch has single male bullet terminal which leads me to think 55-56 cars. I think 57 and up have threaded terminal. Any Ideas?? http://s78.photobucket.com/albums/j96/finsruskw/?action=view <http://s78.photobucket.com/albums/j96/finsruskw/?action=view¤t=DCP_10 68.jpg> ¤t=DCP_1068.jpg Dave Schwandt ----- Original Message ----- From: Bob Merritt To: Dave Schwandt Sent: Friday, September 03, 2010 8:35 AM Subject: Re: [Chrysler300] nuetral start switch question The 56 is trans mounted.... Never had a 55 but I'd guess same as 56.
