With our special needs, you have to use a shop that is willing to work with you to get the best results.
The problem with most shops, someone who doesn't care does the work. Mounts the tire, balances it and adds all the weight the machine says, where it says.
When it gets much over 1 ounce, its best to mark it and then remount the tire 180° around.

Personally, when I was doing special tires, I started with the rim, looking for runout, and balance of the rim without a tire. This saved some time for me.We had a balancer that would give balance for the inside and outside of the wheel. This helped also to make for a better job. I was balancing tires for Acura NSX's which often were driven well over 100 mph, they had to be right. 

Be willing to pay a little more and watch what the weight readout is. then see that the tire is repositioned if it seems too much weight.
