RE: [Chrysler300] One more hand brake question, plus a wiper one!!?

I have maybe missed it if someone has already suggested this, but isn't there a narrow steel tube with a flared out end that the cable adjuster nut bears up against - is this steel tube/sleeve in the trans of this car - it might have fallen out, and then the cable will appear way too long, or not enough adjustment possible?! The cable must be passed through it as it enters the trans, this sleeved bit fitted to the bit the cable goes into.

and ps 1 - can any of those cable shortners suggested work on cable of 300s, as it near fully enclosed from memory??!
ps 2 - any simple reason why a 300 wiper won't turn off once key on acc or ignition positions?! - like is is it lack off an earth??! other reasons??

Then dont buy the ones in eBay... They are about 1/2 of the correct thinkness to start with.

So, I thought getting a new set would solve the problem, but now I am wondering if I have something else going on there. Maybe shortening the cable a bit would help?
