Larry, There is an electrical loop formed by the metal loop on the back of the gauge. It is part of a coil inside the gauge that moves the needle of the gauge. When current passes through the wire going through the loop, it produces (Induces) an electric force inside the gauge, moving the needle. The more current that flows, the higher the needle indicates. If the current goes the other way, the needle deflects the other way, indicating a discharge from the battery. Please remember, I am more mechanic than electronics technician. When I took the gauge cluster out I noticed an insulated wire that passes through a metal loop on the back of the amp gauge Does not appear to be an actual physical connection Thanks Larry Jabin San Francisco, CA 94111 _Larry@xxxxxxxxxxx (mailto:Larry@xxxxxxxxxx) [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ To send a message to this group, send an email to: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to bob@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or go to http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Chrysler300/join and select the "Leave Group" button For list server instructions, go to http://www.chrysler300club.com/yahoolist/inst.htm For archives go to http://www.forwardlook.net/300-archive/search.htm#querylangYahoo!
