I can confirm General P235/70R15 on stock 1970 vintage 6x15 Chrysler wheels rubbed shoulder of tread on inside at steering lock on 1968 Chrysler 300. Not major rub, and at steering lock, presumably you would be limited to parallel parking or other slow speed maneuver - but any rub is undesirable. Spec at 27.8 OD with 7.0 tread - Actual Measured 28.1 in OD with 7.2 inch tread. Did not try 235/75R15 which would be larger diameter - but mostly spec at narrower 6.5 inch tread width. 1968 OE 8.55-14 spec at 28.1 OD but only 4.75 tread width. Optional 8.45-15 spec at 28.7 OD and 5.0 inch tread. Interestingly last production P225/75R14 were Cooper which tend to be a bit smaller dia than most - spec at 27.05 in OD and 5.6 in tread while last Coker 225/75R14 spec at 27.6 OD and 6.04 tread. Personal preference for 65-68 body style would be about 28.0-28.1 OD with 5.5 inch tread - could probably get away with 6.0, maybe 6.5 but no wider at 28 inch OD.
