Exactly right about the residual check valve in single cylinder drum/drum masters.. Installed the AAJ kit on my 66 and 48 but used dual masters from wrecking yards (1985 Fifth Avenue and 1977 Dodge B200 Tradesman) which were for disc/drum cars. No problems there. When I put the kit on my son's 1968 Charger, the front discs hung up and got real warm quickly. Foirtunately son lives just a few miles from Roger of AAJ and he (Roger) made a house call to son's house and did something to fix it. Roger has the answers... jettlarry@xxxxxxx Larry Jett 510-794 7911 Newark CA -----Original Message----- From: retromobilia <retromobilia@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: Rich Barber <c300@xxxxxxx> Cc: french fryguy <french_fryguy@xxxxxxxxx>; travisbaker4 <travisbaker4@xxxxxxxxx>; Chrysler300 <Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>; Paul Martin <paul_martin78ca@xxxxxxxx>; John Nowosacki <jsnowosacki@xxxxxxxxx>; obiwan10 <obiwan10@xxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Mon, Jan 30, 2012 9:53 am Subject: Re: [Chrysler300] Disc brakes I think one thing most hobbiest forget is that drum brakes contain a "residual alve" which holds a specified amount of pressure in the line to keep the inings in position near the drum. In my previous attempts to (retain riginality) or install combination brakes (on mexican road race car) or use xisting Masters on a disk brake setup; we had lots of problems with this (the iscs were dragging). We, as I recall had to locate a dual Master cylinder (of he correct volume ratios) which was used on a car which had discs front and rum rear and it worked very well. (not an easy task as most dimensions for OEM ylinders are not published or we could not find them [pre internet]) f you recall there were a number of years in the late 60's and early 70's where ost cars and trucks had the dual brake set ups. Sort of like the fill tube on an automatic ransmission-level perhaps checked with a dipstick? One would think that AJ would have worked out this problem already. I have done test fit of the master cyl and am finding it will be impossible to remove he lid supplied (mopar cyl). Is there an alternative cyle or a cap with a ower profile? I have the canister style booster.
