Re: [Chrysler300] temp sender issue

Bob:

For what it may be worth, my G has never run even in the middle of the
range on the gauge. Its usual running range is just above the left hand
mark. When it does get hot, in high temperature traffic jams, etc. and pegs
the right hand limit, it drops instantly if I can drive it a hundred yards
at maybe 35 mph. I have always figured that is simply the way it was
supposed to run - never gave it a thought.

I am trying to determine if my temp sending unit in my 300G is faulty. My
engine seems to run too cold, and I've checked the calibration on the temp
gauge (swapped it out with 2 other spares and they read the same). So, I
bought an infrared temp gun to help diagnose the problem. I am currently
running a 190 degree thermostat, and the temp at the sender is about 195
once the car is warmed up. This puts my gauge at the very low end of the
"normal brackets". It does not go into the mid range unless it is a very
hot day and the car is being driven slow. I know the easiest thing to do is
just to swap out the sender with a new one, but I'm curious if anyone knows
what the engine temp is supposed to be at both the low and high side of the
normal range.
