The 1964 Chrysler options list shows code 371 Power Antenna available for "All exc. Wag. & AM-FM". I'm told this is due to the power antenna's fully extended length being improper for FM reception. The power antenna on my '64K convertible is non-op right now, but I'd guess it's fully-extended length to be near the 48" of the antenna for the AM radio on my '55 C-300. The fixed length antennas on my '86 Chrysler T&C convertible, '93 Jeep Renegade and '05 Dodge Durango are all 31"-apparently an optimum length for FM reception. A little Googling confirms this with the optimum antenna length varying from 26" to 33", depending on the station's transmitting frequency. I have not yet determined whether the power antenna on my '64 can be extended to any desired length with the switch. The thought does come to me that the long cable extension from the rear of the car may have caused some signal loss problems with the AM-FM radio-power antenna combination. My '64K and '55 came to me with outside rear-view mirrors on both sides. I removed both mirrors from the '55 (they were mounted on the cowl) and added a clamp-on mirror for safety and convenience. I miss the outside RH mirror, but it was near-useless at its cowl mounting. I'm going to keep the outside rear-view mirror on the K for safety, convenience and symmetry reasons although I expect its usefulness will be minimal. The left manual mirror was standard on the New Yorker and available on all others. The left remote mirror was available on all. The manual antenna was on the right front fender. The power antenna was on the right rear quarter. For those interested in trivia, the booklet that came with the 300L stated that with the AM/FM radio the antenna mast should be extended 31" for maximum reception. Any would have to have been added later by either the dealer or a previous owner. Quite sure they were also not available in 1965 either----at least my info indicates that. As several have mentioned, starting with the 300F, the power antenna was mounted on the right rear quarter and the manual antenna on the right front fender. 300ly, Gil Cunningham [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ To send a message to this group, send an email to: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to bob@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or go to http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Chrysler300/join and select the "Leave Group" button For list server instructions, go to http://www.chrysler300club.com/yahoolist/inst.htm For archives go to http://www.forwardlook.net/300-archive/search.htm#querylangYahoo!
