I just rebuilt the carbs on my car also and discovered that the supplied springs for the accelerator pumps are to stiff. I ended up using the old ones which were a lot weaker and it worked fine. I had used an old “Jiffy Kit” #451 if I remember right. There are check valves in the fuel bowls for the pumps too, along with a brass needle under the squirters. If either of these are missing or defective, you will also have a problem. The pump pistons should be leather. They should be left in the cardboard ring they come in until ready to use. Fill the well with gas before putting the top on the carb. The gas will expand the leather to fit the bores. Hope this helps. The acceleration pumps just dribble a little fuel when pumping the throttle and the car boggs when stepping on the accelerator. The pump plungers seem to be too small for the pump bore. I have adjusted the plunger stroke for as much stroke as possible. Does anyone have any solution or tell me what I did wrong. Thanks for the help.
