RE: [Chrysler300] anti stall device

Ditto's Bob.

I had the stalling problem w/my F or years to the point where Carolyn wanted nothing to do w/driving it.
Finally had Jim McGowan get an anti-stall rebuilt. Installed w/the newly restored carbs he also did for me and got 16+ mpg on one tankfull on the return trip from PA last summer.

What J describes is exactly the way it' is supposed to work. Missy and I drove our F to Carlisle and back home last summer total of over 2000 miles w/a lot o A/C use and had zero problems w/stalling.

You want to see an ear to ear grin on your 15 yr old G'daughters face...
Let her drive one of your Brutes on the open road.

Sure wish they'd bring this list server into the 21st century and allow pictures cuz I have a great one of her crossing the Missisippi on the way home hammer down!!!

Well, I can assure you that is not the case with my 300G. If I don't have the anti-stall device properly set, my engine will die. There is no hard idle adjustment capability on the original 2903S carbureted F and G cars, therefore the anti-stall comes to the rescue as needed when manifold vacuum drops. Do you have the original carbs on your 300F? I'm surprised your mechanic decided that he knew better than the engineers at Chrysler, or have your carbs been changed and the system revamped?

When my 300F was restored the engine guy said the anti stall was not necessary and did not install it. I have driven the car for a long time without it and it runs perfectly, if not better. I recall that before if anything got a little out of adjustment the car would surge on the anti surge diaphragm; especially at stop lights and was very embarrassing. At idle you could open the hood and see the anti-surge plunger pumping the bell-crank.

If someone knows of a logical reason (other than C. E's put it there) I would like to know.
Thanks
J

Wanted to buy an anti stall devise for 1961 300G 413ci or possible a 1960 300F.
This would be the one mounted on top of the long cross rams.
NOS would be fine or a good used one
possibly work.
Also does any body know if there is someone in the club or someone else that is refurbishing these anti stall devises. call 1-715-387-8830 cell 1-715=613-8844
