[Chrysler300] Mitchell Mopar

We got to know Frank when he was doing the parts business on the side and managing the parts department for Spitzer Dodge dealership in Columbus Ohio around 1970. We had moved to Lancaster and had picked up our 50 Chrysler Woodie wagon while there and got lots of
parts from him--from out of the living room of his home. Remember new
exhaust system at 5 $ per item. (and it is still on the car!) That was ordered from factory. He had access to corporate records and was looking for original closed dealerships all the time. That was how he got stated putting together the huge inventory he amassed.

Hadn't seen him in years (20 or more I bet) and then at the only Chryslers at Carlisle we ever made it to we went to his booth and he called me by name right away amazingly.

I knew he had it listed on ebay for sale some years back but didn't know it
had sold. He always had huge inventory of NOS dealership stuff and it was
amazing to see. I still have NOS grille assembly for our 48 Suburban in basement.---and lots of parts on the 50 wagon from him.

Remember BSing with him at someone else's booth at Carlisle and made a comment about how high prices were getting on everything including a beautiful NOS 55/56 horn ring which he had out. He said ya and offered me the ring at about half of the price on it. It is in Nebraska now and on a car.

I have always wanted to believe the problems with parts sold at least came from his staff. He was way to big to do it al himself at the end.

Some of the parts which are commonly found may be unreasonably priced but the unique stuff???

Len Dawson is the other one who really researched the dealerships to get parts. Had some good discussions with him over the years also. I think of him still being a one man dealer.

Good memories

Terry

I had nothing but good experiences and top quality parts that I purchased from Frank Mitchell. Hard to think of expensive when the fellow has what you need and when the package arrives you don’t regress into obsessive/compulsive ruminations hoping that when you open the box you don’t face disappointment. No price can be assigned satisfaction in the parts hunt for our vehicles. 300’ly, Rob Kern

Many people bad mouthed Frank Mitchell, but I never had a problem with
him. He could be expensive, but after the big fire he had, when a good part
of his stock was wiped out, he became a bit more mellow and you could deal
with him, even in his e-Bay sales. Didn't know he had sold out although,
now that I think of it, I was dealing with him almost 20 years ago, and he
was no kid then.

Yes, this used to be Mitchell's and I had good luck with him, although
a bit expensive - a bunch of junk cars and a gigantic warehouse full
of NOS Mopar parts. I used to make many trips to Fairmont when I
lived in GA. I met the new prospective owners in Tulsa, OK in 2007
and they had good plans for the business. They were still working on
the deal when I saw them at North GA Mopar event in 2008. I lost
track of whether they were able to complete the acquisition from Mr.
Mitchell or not. I've not tried to buy anything from them since we
moved to NM in 2009.

Good luck, Matt

Bill Allen
