Mark; In addition to what Mark said, below, remove this filter screen and check the suction tube for blockage. I had the same experiences of fuel starving , after a few minutes of driving and high speed cutout, that the tube was over 50% blocked with hard crud at the bend while the screen itself was clean. The blockage sludge was so hard that Solvent nor flexible drill could not remove it. This blockage was a difficult find as I did everything you did and then some with no improvement. ken Wilson 62H mgoodknight@xxxxxxxx wrote, On 5/22/13 12:45 PM: > Mark, > My '64 Newport has a fine mesh screen fit over the end of the fuel pick-up tube in the gas tank. As it set for a long time the screen became partially clogged by gum formation from the old fuel. When that filter is clogged it is common for the engine to get sufficient fuel for just a few minutes after setting idle for a while but then it will begin to starve as the demand for fuel is greater than the available supply rate. It sounds to me as if you need to check for free flow from your tank to the electric pump and then maybe also to the main pump. > Many years ago I worked on a '69 Grand Prix which had essentially the same trouble, but it was from fuel contamination, not from gum formation. It was equipped with a "sock" instead of a screen. ------Simple solution, not so simple diagnosis----. > > Marshall Goodknight > > Please note: message attached > > From: "Mark Lindahl" <mplindahl@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > To: <chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Subject: [Chrysler300] Hard Luck Award Nominee? > Date: Wed, 22 May 2013 11:47:31 -0500 > > > ____________________________________________________________ > Political system upset? > Democrats BIG advantage in America about to completely vanish > http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL3131/519d208c23c5b208c3236st04duc > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > > > > ------------------------------------ > > To send a message to this group, send an email to: > Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > > To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to bob@xxxxxxxxxxxxx or > go to http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Chrysler300/join and select the "Leave Group" button > > For list server instructions, go to http://www.chrysler300club.com/yahoolist/inst.htm > > For archives go to http://www.forwardlook.net/300-archive/search.htm#querylangYahoo!
