Mr. Brandt Where the pressures check on the front and rear pumps, as stated in the service manual?? This is a must for rebuilt trans. Where the valve bodies "completely" disassembled to verify there are no spools sticking?? Guess what??? My transmission is STILL a problem!! To make a long story short, after driving my G for after 30 to 50 or so minutes, the trans will go from a 3 to 1 kickdown instead of 3 to 2 at almost 45 mph!! Still the same problem for almost 2 years now!! Sometimes it will almost be at 50 when it does a 3 to 1! Now Jeff Carter (seems like I idolize him but I do), suggested the FIRST thing I look at, is the gearshift cable adjustment. I explained to Jeff that the 'head honcho', or owner of the tranny shop (where I fortunately have a lifetime warranty on trans) told me that I could NOT go from Reverse, straight to Nuetral, but I would have to go from Reverse, to Drive, then to Nuetral....... and I can't except only for a couple of times. Jeff basically told me heck NO! I suggested that it might be the slides behind the pushbuttons but he stated he's never had a problem with the slides. I also let him know that the tranny shop said 'that's how they are when they get old', (or something close to that). Again, JC told me no. The adjustment could be off and that could be my problem because too much or too little fluid is applying what there should be. I am going to either tow or drive it back to the 'tranny shop' next Wednsday and have him see if it is the gearshift cable. When I suggested to the owner of the shop that it could be the gearshift cable, he stated "I've been doing this for 50 years, I know how to adjust a gearshift cable". Just what I need at a time like this!!! His ego getting in the way. I need an open mind at this point. This is about the 2nd or 3rd time that this particular transmission has been rebuilt! The last time they tore it apart, at leaste they told be that the bands and clutches were still okay. Now it was brought to my attention by Jeff, a geat knowledgeable member of our club, that it takes two people to adjust the cable. One person up in the car pushing in the button(s) while another person down below adjusts it. When I asked the the local owner (who helped adjust the cable himself), he said "we got it as close as we could". Yikes, it makes me wonder!! Now to wrap this up here's the deal: I'm going to have to have Jeff on the phone with Greg (the owner) come Wednsday, and have JC explain to Greg about doing it but how the heck is that going to happen when Greg will probably take offense to this! What do I do! I need to rule out this possibility and if that's not it, go to the next thing. Any suggestions out there as of what to say to Greg? I hope he has an open mind because Melissa (my G), needs to be fixed!! By the way, Jeff is doing fine and staying with the neighbors in as good of spirits as possible until his house is refurbished enough to move back in (because of the smoke damage that the fire caused). Well, I'll all keep ypu updated! Bye for now!
