Inflated or not, if you are insured by Hagerty, you can insure for a higher value since they, no doubt, use their own guide to determine insurable values.

The prices in Hagerty's value guide have always seemed somewhat inflated compared to what I see in Collector Car Market Review (http://www.collectorcarmarket.com/), which is the guide that I use. The latter seems to mirror the selling prices for cars that I watch.

The current issue (March) of Car and Driver mag has an interesting article on the classsic car market.  Hagerty has  developed what they call the 1950s American Classics Index.  They have plotted the value of 21 classic cars that they feel are representative of the era, from 2006 to the present.  Three  Lettercars are included in the 21 car mix.  The only Lettercar specifically shown in the article is the 300C conv.  Hagerty shows its value  ranging from $160 to $180, with no specs on condition.  Terry McTaggart
