Do letter car designations have hyphens?

See Gloria Moon's remarks:

I tried correcting it on the D section, but there it is again. I have never seen it with the hyphen except for this. I didn't check but have to presume all the letter years also have a hyphen.

Now for a rousing round of conversation, put that on the listserver if you dare!
