Agreed, John. One of the 1st times we showed the F back in the 80’s was at St. Chas IL DuPage Co show. The 300 Group from Chicago had a parking section set aside for the 300’s that just happened to be right next to the Imperial section. We got there early and had the trunk open getting out jackets & such for a quick walk through the swap area when a woman pulled in right next to us in a really sharp Imp. She exited her car, did a quick walk around our F, stopped near us and stated with a ‘Harrummpph…What the hell did Ya paint it blue for???” Actual word outta her snobbish mouth!! Never will forget that!! Still makes me laugh to tell ths story after all these years!! Need less to say, the F rec’d a much warmer welcome 1st time out at a 300 meet, I believe it was in Mena, Arkansas that fall Dave Schwandt From: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of John Lazenby french_fryguy@xxxxxxxxx [Chrysler300] Sent: Sunday, August 10, 2014 9:25 PM To: David Schwandt; 'Matthew Ostrowski' Cc: 'Bob Jasinski'; 'Chrysler 300 List' Subject: Re: [Chrysler300] Tires & pedals On the rare occasion I take a car to a show I will NEVER have it judged. There are far to many experts out there who know everything about every car ever built. Years ago I got very tired of experts telling me what was wrong with my car even though I had documentation with me to back up the correctness. My favorite story to share is a number of years ago my friend Wayne Graefen and I drove my Tango Red C300 to a swap meet at Pierce College in LA. We had made a couple of purchases and returned to the car to put the parts in the trunk. I was approached by a fellow when I had the trunk key in the lock and he ask, "is this your car". My first reaction was to be a wise a%% and say something like no, I'm in the process of stealing it. After quickly telling myself that was not the right thing to do I did reply with a "yes". His immediate next question is "why did you ruin it"? I guess I looked at him rather puzzled and said what do you mean? The next brilliant statement from him "well, everyone knows they only came in white". At that point I closed the deck lid and walked away even though I had documentation in the trunk to fully prove the "expert" wrong but it wasn't worth my time. Forget the trophies and enjoy the car and the fellowship as it will take you much further than a piece of plastic and wood. I did share with the "judge" the info. He agreed with the black pedals but would not accept the whitewall width. He insisted it was 2". I explained the expertise I was drawing from he could not buy in. This was a very small show and truly a feel good, give as many trophies out as possible. I do wonder how often, at a more prestigious event, cars are "marked down" for a belief a volunteer has. All in all it was a spectacular summer day and there were a number of very nice Chryslers there. Enjoy your week! I have never seen gray pedals on a 300G in the 35 years I've owned mine and the numerous Gs I've viewed during that period. For that matter, I've never seen any '61 Mopar, or later, with gray pedals. They tell me the white wall width for a G is suppose to be 2.5" and gas and brake pedal suppose to be gray. I have 3.5" whites and black pedals Can you confirm?
