Hey Doug, I can be such a klutz. I am back to seeing if I can get my 300H running better. I had decided I didn’t have the carbs (restored by Ace Fuel Systems and are gorgeous) properly adjusted. Philbin rebuilt the distributor a couple of years ago-new points rotor, cap, condenser etc, new wire plug wires, newly rebuild damper and I had out new plugs in it last year. So, I decided to have a go at carb setting. For some reason, I had thought the engine was running like it had that carb vacuum line disconnected , which I have done before. So I pulled that loose. Hose was hard and apparently leaking because a new hose made a huge difference . But it kept sounding like it was missing and drove like crap. So I wondered if I had the correct plugs in it and that’s when I asked about correct plugs. Meanwhile, I began removing the plugs in the engine and they were RJ12YC . But here’s what was wrong #1 plug had a .005 gap (nearly closed), #3 was correct at .035, #5 was about .100 and the #7 was disconnected! The plug boot was hanging down. I must have been sleepwalking the day I did that! That car was running on 5 cylnders. No wonder it was hard to start. I think it;s going to be a lot better now. My H runs great and the plugs are Champion J12YC. Probably not totally correct, but the best I could find.
On a side note, the vacuum line from my rear carb to the distributor is fairly new and very flexible.
