My first clue should have been that no one carries them! My second big clue should have been that they do not appear anywhere in the 1962 parts manual . Laura, at Springs n Things , who has been incredibly helpful at sorting this out set me straight: "Most earlier cars don't use pads. There are some of the full-size ones that started in around 68 to use them. The B, E & A bodies don't use them. They started again in 73 to use them. Those actually look like ones similar to Cadillacs I think. I don't carry them though but had come across a set or two years back. You shouldn't need them. That perch doesn’t look like it uses them." Does anyone know if these items are part of that kit? I presume the pads between the leafs are pre-installed, but was unaware that there were pads between the springs and the axle itself.
