RE: [Chrysler300] 300 G Trunk Emblems

Val,

Well, I’m scratching my head on that one. Based on my research and observation,  a 300G built in Feb of 1961 should not have push button vent windows and should have “300” on the trunk lid.  Of course, its possible the “300 “ got left off, but the push button vent windows I’ve only seen on very early cars.  Does the passenger side exhaust manifold look like it was cut off at an angle in the front?  The early cars had that, evidently a left over from the generator mount.

My G was manufactured in February 1961 so your time period fits. Just wonder why they stopped is anyone’s guess. Also my vents have the push buttons on the latches.

           Thanks,

I forgot to mention that the 300 numbers on the trunk lid  are the same as the numbers on the side medallions.

The deck lid “300” letters began to be installed sometime in early November to mid-December 1960.  This is based on research done over the years by Andy Mikonis and myself and input from club members.  The question comes up from time to time, and I have personally looked at a number of 300Gs and SO numbers that support this opinion.  Gary Goers offers the “300” numbers if he still has them.  They are installed on the decklid by press fit from the top into a spring clip, no nut or holes visible from underneath.   They could be added if desired, but for the sake of originality, I’d leave them off if I was restoring and early G.  Another early feature of the G is push button vent window locks, but the changeover on those was earlier as best I can tell.

   Good morning everyone,

Are the 300 numbers on a G Deck lid actually ordered or just put on in some period of production ? Also, are they the same as on the quarter panel emblems ? If possible, I would like a set.

                                                                            Thanks,
