I would guess the hard starting when warm is a carb problem. The needle and seat in those years were a steel needle on a brass seat. Carter realized the problem and started manufacturing replacements with a rubber tip on the needle. This stopped the leakage and flooding when hot causing the hard start. This was a problem on our 1957 300C in 1958. Carter Carburetor Division, sent out Bulletin No. 531 General, Dated March 1960. Subject Rubber Tipped Fuel Inlet Needle and Seat Part 25-392S Used on Carburetors for Chrysler Corp. Under development for over two years, this new needle and seat is now being used in production of AFB Four Bore type carburetors used on Chrysler Corporation vehicles. Because of its resilient sealing surface the needle tip will make a tight seal even with fuel contamination by iron oxide and other tiny dirt particles. The float settings remains the same as with the conventional steel needle. I should have responded to Narve Nordanger when I read the Winter 2019 Club News. I have known Narve for many years as he has attended the Portland, Oregon Swap meet many times and has been to our home and also to the storage building where we store four Chrysler/Imperials in addition to our 1957 300C and 1970 Chrysler 300 Convertible at our home.
