True. The new “Look” was also called the One Hundred-Million Dollar Look, representing the cost to retool and redesign sheet metal and interior. The visual differences between the 1954 and 1955 Chrysler products was huge. Underneath, not so much. It took Exner a few more years before his full impact was made. Styling sold the cars, not an ad for Oriflow shocks. Rich Barber Brentwood, CA From: Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <Chrysler300@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> On Behalf Of Don Warnaar 300country@xxxxxxx [Chrysler300] Thanks to Carlton Schroeder for posting the article and to Randy Guyer for correcting the link. However the article had an error that is very common to information on The Forward Look. The Forward Look began in 1955 when the all new models designed under the direction of Virgil Exner were introduced. It continued in 1956 when fins were added to all the lines. And then of course, the dramatic 1957's appeared with a real emphasis on the fins and many other innovations including Torsionnaire Ride (torsion bar suspension) which allowed for the extra low lines of the cars.
