Dave: I’m not tracking the “resistor”. The only resistors I can think of are the variable resistors in the fuel level sensing unit, the headlight switch for dimming the panel lights and the internal variable resistors in the oil-pressure and temperature sensors; and the fixed resistors for the ignition and three-speed blower fan switch in A/C cars. Additionally, there must be a variable resistor inside the variable-speed wiper switch. The windshield switches are basic single-speed and deluxe variable-speed with (2427746) or without (2426314) a center button to power the washer fluid pump. Be careful when shopping to get the one you need. 2427746 is found on 1964 Plymouths, Dodges and Chryslers. Of the switches for sale on eBay, only this one seems to have the center button in the knob which actuates the washer pump. https://tinyurl.com/y62jfwt9 I’d suggest buy it now and clean it up. If you want NOS, be sure the switch contains the washer switch which is a bolt-on add and the circuit breaker and connecting wires. This one has the basics and the rest could be bolted on and salvaged from your existing switch: https://tinyurl.com/yxwvcccd That one and several others are missing the circuit breaker that protects the wiper motor, washer pump and backup lights. I also have a nicer-looking spare wiper switch with washer switch having the CB and all the connectors and short pig tails on it-part number is one different 2427745 but seems identical. I cannot test it in the car but all electrical functions seem to work. I also have spare printed circuit boards for the ’63-’64 instrument panel. I have noted that the five pins on each board are sort of riveted from the back and can get a little loose—making intermittent contact to the copper printed on the front. A little judicious tapping on the back tightens them up. Others have added a drop of solder at the base. I don’t see how anything short of a major meltdown of a PC board or solder dripping on it from above could make a short circuit at the board and light up the high beam indicator lamp with a turn signal lamp. There must be a wire-to-wire short elsewhere—or a short within the headlight switch. Look along all the orange wires to the radio, heater/clock, LH & RH panel lights and shifter panel bulbs. Hangin’ in there with you and hoping to learn from what you find. Let me know if you find you need parts from me. Any avenues I could use to secure a new 64 variable wiper switch and the resistor? How do I meter test thevwiper?
