Silicone is certainly the enemy of fresh paint and contaminates a painting field. Paint shops want it nowhere near them.
However silicone will not hurt cured paint and it will not harm future paint work provided the shop takes proper steps to clean the work beforehand. I have used silicone and continue to use silicone on rubber parts of several of my cars that were subsequently painted. Half the car care products sold in auto parts store have silicone in them. This is why we use plenty of pre-cleano and prep-all type products before paint.
I do not mean to argue, Lanolin works well and Go-Jo is an economical way to buy it.
And yes, Dot % is a great brake fluid, it is in my F and savoy.

The Go-Jo process works pretty well for a gasket that is not split or gouged. I soaked my 300G windshield gasket with the stuff, then placed it in a black trash bag and put it out in the sun for a week. Soft and pliable once I washed all the goop off. Even the windshield installer commented on it. Dennis
