To follow up on Allan's great new recommendation, a couple years ago I was going to toss out my F's old front drums with hot spots, machined out to their maximum spec. Instead I gave them to Andy M, and expect he still has them.

Allan called me and described this shop yesterday. He also picked up a set of relined drums from J&G yesterday.

After seeing this email from Allan today, I called and spoke with J&G's owner, Don, because I didn't see 'Chrysler' mentioned on his website. He said he can reline any brake drum, as long as it's not cracked. He's restored drums for at least a half dozen 300's, along with many other Chryslers and other cars.

I'll be adding J&G to our Vendor list in our Club's website under Classified Ads/Sources. !'m planning to have our Sources list updated by the end of this month, for future refernce.

With all the disk brake conversions and rear axle swaps there should be lots of drums laying around. I know I got the front brake parts and a rear axle from a 300F someone was working on and wanted to do the swaps.

Allan,

Thanks for posting this.  I’ve often wondered if a process would be developed allowing worn drums to be brought back within spec.  I’m now sorry I tossed out a worn out pair of fronts for my G back in the ‘90s.

 Hey All,

I wanted to share a company based here in here in Illinois that some may have have a need for.

J&G Brake Drum Relining can reline worn brake drum with iron liners if you are past the safe limits and has been doing so for a good number of years.

Don can also reline the brake shoes with thicker friction material and arc them to fit your drums after they have been turned numerous times.

Just an option to share.
