I wear a headlamp and use a telescopic extension mirror. Or you can clip the headlamp (the new ones just way a couple of ounces) underneath the dash so you can see what you're touching.

It wasn't exactly roomy or comfortable, but I was able to access both the cable and wick from there with my right hand. I would be sure to have a flashlight handy before you squeeze in there so you can see what you're trying to grab. I hope this helps.
