I ran across something interesting on the Imperial Site in one of the service pamphlets. https://www.web.imperialclub.info/Repair/Lit/Master/159/Page20.htm A specification for the force required to push the steering column tube into the coupling on the box. It states that it should take between 3 and 15 pounds of force. If not, they recommend using another nylon square on one side to increase
the pressure. I had never seen or ran across anything that talked about how tight that joint is supposed to be.
Interesting. I guess I will make up some extra squares and pull out my spring scale and see mow much pressure it takes to pull the column tube into the box.
