I have a '64 Polara 500 convertible that is a floor shift auto. I once had a '64 300 sport convertible that was also a floor shift, but I'm pretty sure someone swapped the transmission for a non-floor shift one. The shifter only moved a short amount from park to 1st. You kind of had to figure out where to place it to drive the car and get it in reverse. I just put up with it until I sold it.

I have a trans that is an EARLY 1965 spare. Rail number  F2466112 1587547 which should mean Flint Wednesday December 1^st 1965.

 

This in the MPB shows as an early 1965 383-413 with 4-BBL.

 

It is a flange not a yoke type. I understand they did a mod-year change from flange to yoke.

 

I would like to know if it was a console versus a push button without having to open it up.
