Hi Noel , 

most likely the small capacitor in power pack , all that goes wrong   

replace with panasonic 630 v plastic film cap same uF as stamped on cap in there . ( can  buy it at Mouser ) under a dollar  . Most are .1 uF if I remember right . It is probably arcing inside and deteriorates more as he drives along , especially the original white bendix one . they are junk . Old caps used paper insulation  which degrade with time 

Or get rebuilt supply . Don’t just “get another one “ they all have this problem

One of my local buddies, and fellow 300 Club member, also has a 300-F coupe. His electroluminescent Astradome dash display looks normal for the first 10-15 minutes he's driving his car and then fades to dim. Playing with the headlight switch rheostat doesn't help.

 

Ideas, on what's causing this malfunction?
