First question: Are you using the correct drum puller. See photo. If not, don’t proceed until you have this tool, or the Les Fairbanks puller.

Next, yes definitely pull the drum. You will have to replace the center support with a good used, working, unstripped one. I would also verify the other side to see if that’s working.

Hi all,

 

Trying to remove rear drums on my 300F.  The head on one of the adjusters is stripped and I can't be sure the shoe has been backed off. I tried a pair of vice grips but it still wouldn't move. Should I continue with the hub puller?  I don't want to bend anything in there?
