It appears the online catalog is being updated/revised and is not viewable at this time.

I reproduced these moisture barriers with David at Performance Car Graphics for the 57-65 cars from original moisture barriers I provided to him. David's kits came complete with the 4 plastic laser cut panels, the white "dum dum" adhesive cord,  and the correct black tape. The kits sold at one time for 45-50 dollars plus shipping. I had several kits for both convertible and hardtop, at past meets and they were not a big seller. David who was a friend of founding club member Gil Cunningham in Tallahassee also made the Hurst Stripe kits for us at the club. David died and I am not sure if the new owners still are making them but it worth a call. James let me know and I will look and see if I still have any 64 hardtop kits left. Interesting as I learned that the 60 door is the exact same as the 64. I took my 64 door panels and they snapped right on my 60. The door handle is however in a different location but all the clip holes are spot on. You have to cut the holes for the PW harness as he made them universal to fit a PW or a manual window car.

Hi All,

I have been reviewing the assembly manual for the 300K. In particular, the rain shields under the door and quarter panels.

I can tell everyone that one should take these shields much more seriously than just worrying about getting the panels wet.  A couple of weeks back we had a long hard rain storm here in Northern California. Sondra and I drove up to out place out of town, about 80 Mile trip.

The rain was pounding continuously as we drove in the dark morning hour. At one point I could not see the freeway at all! Spooky.

What I did not notice until a day later was the tremendous amount of water that ended up in the rear floor pans. Lucky for me I had just the carpet with the factory jute down so I could life up the carpet (not yet glued to the jute) and let it dry out although it took a week plus to do so. That much water!

It did not come from around the windows. It came through the webbing in the quarter windows.  That much splash.  I was shocked at the amount.

I cannot say this for other body years, but for 1963 and 1964, the quarter window plastic rain shield is very important. As I look at the diagram in the assembly manual, I noted that they designed it so that water that hits the shield is to drain down the shield and then back into the sill area to run out the drain holes.  They very specifically dumb-dumb just the perimeter and have the water drain down the sheet and into the slot that is about 2 inch above the floor pan in the webbing.

I hate to glue the thing in with adhesive, although I did use contact cement on the top 2 inches to old it in place.  I would like to find some semi-sticky dumb-dumb like the white stuff the factory used to run around the perimeter. 3M’s strip caulk is too messy for that but everything else I have found it to strong and one cannot pull the plastic up if work needs to be done in the future.

Anyone every find a source for the white stuff?

As an aside, a odd thing happened yesterday.  We pulled up to the intersection we live on here in San Francisco and at the same time a 1964 Chrysler New Yorker 4 door hardtop pulled up.  What are the odds? The guy pulled over in front of our place and we talked. His father purchased it new in 1964. Factory black paint still on it and stock red interior.  A little dinged up but not too bad. It entire life in San Francisco.
