Why go through the hassle of doing all these modifications, not to mention that the value of your car will diminish significantly, when you can just have the tranny rebuilt ? That seems like the best and easiest course of action.

Hello, Can someone advise if a later Big Block 727 Torqueflite will fit in a 64' 300K with the console mounted shifter? I'd like to install a later single pump Torqueflite in the car. Will the stock trans linkage work or does it require modification? Is the later Torqueflite the same length or will I need the crossmember and driveshaft modified? Anything else I would need to know before tackling?
I have no forward or reverse gears and the transmission was whining at all speeds prior. RIP ole' girl....
