
Zach, the master cylinder pushrod must be adjusted properly so that the piston returns fully in the bore, uncovering the compensation port and allowing the fluid to return. Left covered the brakes stay applied little by little, the drag makes them hot, they expand, and the whole thing gets worse until it stops.
Another thing. masters used with drum brakes have a check valve in the master port to keep the shoes from fully retracting. You cannot use a check valve port on a disk brake as it will keep the brakes energized.
You likely have one or both going on.
