There is another option for speakers. Custom Auto Sound makes dual voice
coil speakers that will replace the factory speaker in the dash. This is
what I have in my 63 Fury convert hooked to a very cheap AM/FM stereo
cassette radio and I can't believe how good it sounds. They also make dual
4" and 3 1/2" speakers that are mounted in a framework to fit in the factory
location of the single dash speaker. This is what I have in my 78 Dodge
pickup which also sounds good but I think the dual voice coil single speaker
sounds even better. Here's a link to the DVC jobs.

If I'm not mistaken...these are already cut for speakers! Anything
more that 1 42 yr old speaker in the center of the dash would be an
improvement!!!

Bill, If your 65 kick panel area, is anything like my 62's,
you won't have much room, if any, for speakers there.
