hey, thanks Bill! that really clears up the Fratzog thing.
since my 62 Dodge wagon has fenders donated from a 62 Polara, I've
always wanted to get more
Fratzogs to put on my car. I think it's a great design, I even
designed several Fratzog decal designs or
logos of my own. like the Fratzog cross Gary posted <http://
1962to1965mopar.ornocar.org/ml-fratzog.html>
thanks Gary. there is a lot of variants of the Fratzog, I've seen
used in ads and brochures and on the sides of race cars.
and I've noticed that Mitzubishi uses a similar 3 triad design, and
so does the Klingon empire. (o:

Elwood Engle succeeded Virgil Exner as head of Chrysler styling in
October, 1961, two months after the 1962 Dodge Polara and the
Fratzog went into production. The emblem was designed by a couple
of Dodge stylists who chose the word "Fratzog" as they could then
trademark the design and name. There is no German in the name -
"drei" is German for three and "punkte" is points.
The 1962 Dodge Polara had the Fratzog on the hood, rear quater
panels, trunk, and instrument panel. The lower-priced Darts also
had the Fratzog on the instrument panel and on some series embossed
on the door panel trim. Canadian-built 1962 Plymouths and Dodge
Darts used Dart interiors so they also had the Fratzog on the
instrument panel and door panels.
The Fratzog was used in Dodge advertising with the introduction of
the Dodge Custom 880, which also used it on the trunk lid. In
1963 the Fratzog became the Dodge emblem for all models.
