Re: hidden vin numbers



To get the build record (IBM card) from Chrysler you need the VIN.

The VIN did not apppear on the body tag until 1969.

The VIN did not appear on the engine or transmission until 1968.

The VIN was not stamped on the car body until 1968.

The SON (4 digits) is NOT the same number as the VIN sequence number (6
digits).  They are rarely even close.  I own a 1962 Dodge Lancer GT - the
SON is 3074 while the last six digits of the VIN are 106831.   If you were
able to reconstruct your 1963 Dodge 880 VIN from the data tag, it was a
fuke.
