RE: 413

The biggest mistake people make when building Mopars
is assuming that the pin height is the same. Mopar made
so many pistons for each motor through out the years,
and all the after stock type market pistons are different
that you better measure and check before you buy and
install pistons expecting a given compression ratio.

Stock bores are:

413 - 4.19"
426 - 4.25"
440 - 4.31"

All three motors share the same stroke and therefore the same rods an
pin
height. A 0.060" oversize piston takes you to the next displacement's
standard bore. So unless your 413 block can take a 0.120" overbore, you
can't use 440 pistons. At best you can use stock 426 pistons.

I was told I could take the 413 bore it 60 over and install the stock
bore
440 pistons. I am going to double check that. I finally understand
what
you are getting at. Will let you know when I comeback from the machist.

seems
to me since the 440 is a larger bore, would a 413 block be able to go
that
far without compromising the cylinder walls?
