The heater core is like having an extra little radiator.  Years ago, I have run my heater in 110 degree weather to keep the motor from overheating in traffic.  Brutal, but effective.  But, if you have to do that, it means you don't have enough cooling capacity.  You need a clean system, bigger radiator, electric auxiliary fan, shroud, etc.
