I remember reading an article by Don Garlits when he was just getting a 
handle in running the 426 Hemi in his Swamp Rat dragsters.  One comment this 
reminds me of is his saying that he did not really start getting big power until 
they turned up the advance.  I do not remember the specifics, but that was the 
gist of it.  What fuel you use probably makes a substantial difference also.
