Ahhhh, so the 383 is the only motor with both depending on what year it was made? I guess the "B" 383 would be quicker, and the "RB" 383 would have more torque?

Those are the letter codes Mopar assigned to their corporate engines, just
as they did with the car bodies. The "R" stands for "Raised", meaning the
deck height was increased to permit a longer bore. The most common engine
codes are :

G - 170-cid slant six
RG - 198 & 225-cid slant six

A - poly - distributor at rear (277, 301, 303, 313, 318, 326)

LA - wedge - distributor at rear (273, 318, 340, 360)

B - wedge - distributor at rear (350, 361, 383, 400)
RB - wedge - distributor at rear (383*, 413, 426, 440)

The 426-hemi block was derived from the RB.
The A block engines share nothing with the Dodge hemi engines that preceded
them or the Dodge/Plymouth poly versions.

* - RB 383 used only in 1959-60 American-built Chrysler Windsors and
Saratogas.

I hate to ask a stupid question, but I have been watching you guys talk
about RB, and B Blocks, what the heck does that stand for?? What should I
know about the Blocks other than the year they were made, small or long
block? Am I really that stupid??

An intake manifold for a B block will not fit an RB block as the V is wider
at the top on the RB than on the B due to the longer stroke. And, of
course, the intake of an RB will not fit a B, the RB intake manifold being
too wide.

Hi

Now to a question that hopefully some of you can answer. Sorry but it´s
about 1959-1961 mopars.
Is the intake manifolds the same on a 361 and a 383 with cross ram compared
to a a 413 with the cross ram ? The 383 with cross ram, could it be a B
engine block and also a RB engine block ?

Thanks,
Thomas
