Also, confusion in recognizing the B and RB 383 engines comes from identifying the heads. Due to the small bore of the RB 383, it used the same heads as the B block 361 while the B block 383 used the same heads as the RB 413. So if you see RB 413 heads on a 383, it is not a Chrysler RB 383 but a Dodge/DeSoto B block 383. Which is why there are a few writers out there who claim the 1959-60 DeSoto, for example, used the RB 383. And it did not.
