Well, with a somewhat steady hand and a keen eye, I drilled out the 3/8"
oil pick up and tapped it with a tapered 1/2" ips tap. I only drilled down
about an inch and a half and tapped it about 3/4". Should I drill it down to the
bit bottoms out? I was going clean up the chamfer where I stopped drilling
with the factory hole. My main concern was cracking the boss where the pick up
screws in. Went pretty well. A friend of mine assisted with cutting oil
duties and he said he don't see what difference the upgrade makes. I told him
that if it was good enough for ma Mopar, it was good enough for me. BTW - is
locktight ok for the threads or should I put a small tack on it with the wire
feed? Joe
