FIRST, TELL YER FRIEND TO STICK TO CHEVIES.
Any type of thread sealer will do the job on the threads I try to keep it uo the threads a bit so it doesn't get in the tube. 
You don't need to drill the hole all the way and it does work because of the fact that the original hole in the block is the same size as the inside  ID of the hemi pickup so the hole is now all the wat from the pick up screen to the oil pump the same size.
